CHAPTER 440.

ACT to provide for the removal from the Court House of
Anne Arundel county, Maryland, to the State Land Office
certain old records now in the Court House at Annapolis.

CHAPTER 441.

AN ACT to appropriate $25,000.00 for the purpose of erecting
a hospital in Frostburg, Allegany county, to be known as the
Miner's Hospital, and providing for the appointment of
directors and the operating and maintaining of said hospital,
and giving power to the Mayor and City Council of Frost-
burg to purchase or condemn a site for the same.

WHEREAS, The mining of coal and clay and other minerals in
the counties of Allegany and Garrett is a hazardous occupa-
tion, and many men are injured by reason thereof; and,

WHEREAS, a proper institution should be in said mining region
for the care of the sick and injured; now, therefore,
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That

SECTION 1. The sum of $25,000.00 be and the same is
hereby appropriated for the purpose of building a hospital to be
known as the Miner's Hospital, in the City of Frostburg, Alle-
gany county, payable out of any funds in the treasury avail-
able for that purpose, said sum of money to be used for the
purpose of building and furnishing the said Miner's Hospital
under the direction of the directors hereinafter provided for,
the same to be as far as possible maintained as an emergency
hospital for the use of persons injured in accidents in mines
in the neighboring regions.

SEC. 2. Said hospital shall be erected upon some site in the
City of Frostburg, to be furnished and donated for said pur-
pose by the Mayor and City Council of Frostburg, which said
Mayor and City Council of Frostburg are hereby empowered
for the purpose of acquiring said site, to buy or to condemn, as
railroads now condemn property in the State of Maryland,
such property as they shall deem necessary and proper, and
before the said building is erected upon said land, the said
land shall be deeded to the directors of the said hospital herein-
after provided.
