CHAPTER 11.

AN ACT to authorize the Mayor and Common Council of
Hyattsville to borrow money for the erection, equipment and

furnishing of a building in the town of Hyattsville, Prince
George's county, State of Maryland, to be used for the
fire department and other municipal purposes; to authorize
the issue of certificates of indebtedness for the money bor-
rowed and to provide for the creation of a sinking fund for
the payment thereof.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That for the purpose of erecting and properly equip-
ping and furnishing a building in the town of Hyattsville, in
Prince George's county, State of Maryland, for the use of
the fire department and for other municipal purposes of said
town, the Mayor and Common Council of Hyattsville, a body
corporate chartered under the laws .of this State, is hereby
authorized and empowered to borrow on the faith and credit
of said town such an amount of money as may be requisite and
necessary for the purposes mentioned, not to exceed the sum
of seven thousand dollars. That the said the Mayor and
Common Council of Hyattsville is hereby further authorized
and empowered to issue to the lender or' lenders of the money
hereinbefore authorized to be borrowed its certificate or certifi-
cates of indebtedness which shall be in such form and for such
an amount or amounts not exceeding in the aggregate the said
sum of seven thousand dollars, payable at such time or times
and bearing interest at such rate not exceeding six per centum
per annum, as the said the Mayor and Common Council of
Hyattsville shall by ordinance determine. That said certificate
or certificates shall be signed in the name of the said the Mayor
and Common Council of Hyattsville, by the Mayor, sealed with
the seal of said corporation, attested by the clerk and counter-
signed by the treasurer thereof and shall refer to this act, and
the ordinance of the said the Mayor and Common Council of
Hyattsville authorizing their issue. That said certificate or
certificates, of indebtedness shall be exempt from taxation for
all county and municipal purposes in said Prince George's
county.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That it shall be the duty
of the treasurer of said town of Hyattsville to make and pre-
serve an official record of every certificate of indebtedness that
may be issued showing the date and amount thereof, the name
and address of the payee, the rate of interest, the interest
