Arundel county shall fix the salaries of all teachers regularly
employed in said county on and after the first day of Septem-
ber, 1912, as follows: All white teachers regularly employed in
the public schools of Anne Arundel county holding a first-class
teachers' certificate and having taught for a period of three
years in any of the public schools of the State of Maryland,
shall receive a salary of four hundred dollars ($400) per
annum; all such teachers holding a first-class certificate and
having taught in any of the public schools for the State of
Maryland for a period of five years shall receive a salary of
four hundred and fifty dollars ($450) per annum; all such
teachers holding a first-class teachers' certificate and having
taught in any of the public schools of the State of Maryland
for a period of eight years or more, shall receive a salary of
five hundred dollars ($500) per annum; all such teachers hold-
ing a second-class teachers' certificate and having taught in any
of the public schools of the State of Maryland for a period of
five years shall receive a salary of four hundred dollars ($400")
per annum; and all such teachers holding a second-class certifi-
cate and having taught in any of the public schools of the State
of Maryland for a period of eight years or more shall receive
a salary of four hundred and twenty-five dollars ($425) per
annum; and all teachers regularly employed in the public
schools of Anne Arundel county shall receive a salary of not
less than three hundred and fifty dollars nor more than four
hundred dollars per annum; provided, however, the said Board
of County School Commissioners of Anne Arundel County
shall have the right in their discretion to increase the salary of
the principal of any school in said county having more than
three assistants beyond the amount provided in the above sched-
ule. And the said Board of County School Commissioners of
Anne Arundel County are hereby directed and required to pay
the salaries of all teachers employed in Anne Arundel county
monthly.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That at their annual levy
term in the year 1912, and at each annual levy term thereafter,
the County Commissioners of Anne Arundel County shall levy
such an amount as will be sufficient, in their judgment, together
with the revenue received by the Board of County School
Commissioners of Anne Arundel County from the State of
Maryland, to pay the salaries of said teachers as provided in
this act, and it is hereby made the duty of the Board of County
School Commissioners of said Anne Arundel County to furnish
to the said County Commissioners before the beginning of said
levy a list showing the names of all teachers employed, the
