CHAPTER 144.
AN ACT to add a new section to Article 93 of the Code of
Public General Laws of 1904; title "Testamentary Law,'" to
be designated as section 325A, to follow immediately after
section 325, providing for the abolition of the Rule in
Shelley's Case.
WHEREAS, The technical rule known as the Rule in Shelley's
Case disregards the intention of testators and grantors, and
has, therefore, been abolished by statute in almost all of the
States in the Union and should no longer continue in force
in Maryland; therefore,
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That a new section be and hereby is added to Article 93
of the Code of Public General Laws of Maryland of 1904, title
"Testamentary Law," to be designated as section 325A, to fol-
low immediately after section 325, and to read as follows:
SEC. 325A. Whenever by any form of words in any deed,
will or other instrument executed after the thirty-first day of
May, in the year nineteen hundred and twelve, a remainder in
real or personal property shall be limited, mediately or imme-
diately, to the heirs or the heirs of the body of a person to whom
a life estate in the same property is given, the persons who on
the termination of the life estate are then the heirs or heirs of
the body of such tenant for life, shall take as purchasers by
virtue of the contingent remainder so limited to them.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 145.
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments section 105 of
Article 2 of the Code of Public Local Laws, title "Anne
Arundel County," sub-title "Brooklyn," as enacted by Chap-
ter 284 of the Acts of 1904, so as to provide for the appoint-
ment of two physicians to perform certain public services in
the First and Third Precincts of the Fifth Election District
of Anne Arundel County; to provide salaries for the phy-
