PHILLIPS LEE GOLDSBOROUGH, GOVERNOR. 2791

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That constables of Harford county be and they are hereby
authorized and empowered to execute commitments issued by
justices of the peace of Harford county, committing persons-
to the House of Correction and other State institutions, and
to convey and deliver the person or persons so committed to said
institutions; and shall receive for said services from the County
Commissioners of said county to be levied annually by them,
the sum of ten dollars and cost of transportation.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That whenever any of said con-
stables shall make an arrest under a State warrant and bring
the prisoner before a justice of the peace of the county, he shall
be allowed and receive, in addition to the seventy-five cents
now allowed by law for serving said warrant, five cents per mile-
in excess of five miles, for every mile he may have to travel
in the performance of said service, and the actual necessary
traveling expenses of each prisoner, and whenever he shall
attend a regular hearing or trial of said prisoner before the
justice of the peace before whom the prisoner is brought on
said warrant, he shall be allowed and receive for such attend-
ance the sum of fifty cents, the same to be paid by the County
Commissioners of said county, to be annually levied by them.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 131.

AN ACT to confirm all charters of the Deer Creek and Susque-
hanna Railway' Company and to relieve them and its road
bed from the operation and effect of the Act of 1910, Chap-
ter 724, page 80, and Article 23, section 253 of the Code of
Public General Laws of 1904, and from liability to forfeiture
and abandonment under the laws of the State.

WHEREAS, The Deer Creek and Susquehanna Railway Company
was organized under the general laws of this State by charter
granted in March, 1902, for the purpose of owning, possess-
ing, maintaining and operating the property real, personal
and mixed, franchises, rights, privileges, immunities and
powers of the Deer Creek and Susquehanna Railroad Com-
pany, a company organized under the aforesaid general laws
