receive a salary of twelve hundred dollars per year, and he shall per-
form all the duties imposed on him by law or ordinance of the city. And
at the same" time the Mayor may appoint one person who must be a
registered physician and in good standing, to be known as "Health
Officer," one person to be known as "Supervisor of Weights and Meas-
ures, and one person to be known as the "Building Inspector," who
shall hold office for one year and until their successor or sucessors are
duly appointed and qualified, and subject as other officers to confirma-
tion by the Council. The respective duties and compensation of the
"Health Officer," "Supervisor of Weights and Measures," and "Building
Inspector," shall be prescribed by ordinance passed by the Mayor and
Council, and said officers may be suspended or re-enacted by the Mayor
for neglect, non-performance of duty or good cause, and may appoint
a successor to fill the unexpired term.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect from the
date of its passage.

The two following Chapters (440 and 483) were reconsidered and
signed by the Governor:

CHAPTER 440.

AN ACT to provide for the removal from the Court House of Anne
Arundel County, Maryland, to the State Land Office, certain old
"records "now in the Court House at Annapolis.

WHEREAS, For lack of room in the clerk's office of the Circuit Court
for Anne Arundel County, there is stored in the cellar a large num-
ber of record books, which from a geneological standpoint are very
valuable; and,

WHEREAS, Present accommodations are not adapted to the further care

of these books, and the clerk of the Circuit Court for Anne Arundel

County has agreed to deliver them to the Commissioner of the Land

Office, who has agreed to accept the same and care for them; therefore,

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,

That sundry old record books of Anne Arundel county now stored in

the cellar of the Court House at Annapolis, shall be transferred from

their present quarters to the Land Commissioner's Office. These books

to.be scheduled by the Peggy Stewart Tea Party Chapter, National

Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution of which one copy

shall be given to the clerk of the Circuit Court and one copy to the

Commissioner of the Land Office. And the same shall be removed from

the Court House to the Land Office, the expense of which removal not

to be paid for by Anne Arundel county.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this, act shall take effect from the
date of its passage.
