1900, ch. 689, sec. 1.
160. That the Board of County Commissioners of Mont-
gomery County are hereby authorized to provide anti-toxine for
the use of indigent persons suffering with diphtheria; pro-
vided, that such anti-toxine shall be furnished only upon the
affidavit of the attending physician that such diphtheretic person
or persons is unable to procure the necessary treatment.

161. That whenever any resident of Montgomery county,
who is a pauper, shall die, the expense of his burial shall bo
paid by the county commissioners of said county, who shall
levy in the usual manner and pay such sum as in their discre-
tion shall be a reasonable and fair charge for the services
rendered.

162. That every undertaker or other person presenting a
bill for the burial of such pauper shall, in addition to the
affidavit now required by law or usage to be appended to said
bill, file with the county commissioners an affidavit made by
some taxpayer, who shall state under oath that ho knew the
deceased in his life time and knows or verily believes that
that the deceased was, at the time of his death, without means
to defray the expenses of his funeral, and that the deceased
owed or was entitled to no property which could properly be
charged with the payment of the costs of his burial.

163. That the County Commissioners of Montgomery
County are hereby authorized and empowered to appoint one
additional constable each for the 4th, 7th and 13th election
districts in said county.

2.
164. That said constable to be appointed under the pre-
ceding section shall daily patrol the county roads under the
guidance, supervision and direction of said county commis-
sioners; said constable shall be mounted upon bicycle or motor
cycle, as said commissioners shall direct, and the special duty
of the constable appointed under the provisions of this act are
to police the public thoroughfares that may be assigned them
from time to time by the commissions and at such time and
places.

165. That said constable shall have all the authority and
power as any other constable under the laws of this State.
