CHAPTER 790.
AN ACT to repeal Article 16 of the Code of Public Local Laws
of Maryland, title "Montgomery County," and the several
acts and parts of acts amendatory thereof, or inconsistent
therewith, and to re-enact said Article 16 with amendments
under appropriate sub-titles.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted 6y the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Article 16 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland, title "Montgomery County," and the several acts
and parts of acts amendatory thereof, or inconsistent there-
with, be and the same are hereby repealed, and the said Article
16 is hereby re-enacted with amendments under the appropri-
ate sub-titles hereinafter contained, so as to read as follows:

P.L.L. (1888), sec. 1.
1. The Trustees of the Poor in Montgomery County are a
body corporate, with power to sue and be sued, by the name
of "The Trustees of the Poor of Montgomery County," and by
that name may take and hold any gift, donation or present
which may be givtin, devised or bequeathed to them for the
support and maintenance of the poor in said county, and may
purchase and hold any lands and tenements, not exceeding
the yearly value of fifteen hundred dollars; and may have and
use a common seal, and may change the same at pleasure.

2. In the second week of November in every year, the
county commissioners shall appoint five persons, inhabitants
of said county, Trustees of the Poor of said county, who shall
hold their office for the term of one year from the date of their
appointment and until the qualification of their successors,
subject, however, to removal at the pleasure of the county
commissioners, and whenever a vacancy shall exist in said
board of trustees from any cause it shall be the duty of the
said commissioners to fill such vacancy at their next meeting.

3. The persons elected trustees, before acting as such, shall
take the following oath: "I, A. B., do swear that I will duly
and faithfully discharge the duties and trusts committed to
me as Trustee of the Poor of Montgomery County, according
to the best of my skill and knowledge, so help me God." Such
oath shall be administered by one of said trustees to the others,
and then one of them shall administer the oath to him.

4. Any person elected a trustee, who shall willfully refuse
or delay to qualify as such, shall forfeit and pay for every
