1174 LAWS or MARYLAND. [Ch. 716]

thousand dollars ($1,000) each year; the first series or instal-
ment of one thousand dollars ($1,000) to mature and fall due
one year from the date of the issuance of same; the second series
or instalment to mature and fall due two years from the date of
issuance of same, and so on until all of said bonds have matured
and fallen due; said bonds to be signed by the President of the
Board of County Commissioners of Anne Arundel County, and
to be countersigned by the clerk to said board, and to be issued
under the corporate seal of the said Board of County Commis-
sioners. And the said county commissioners are hereby author-
ized and directed to sell said bonds for cash at not less than the
par value thereof, and to apply the proceeds thereof to the cost
of erecting said bridge and the expenses incident thereto.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the said Commissioners of
Anne Arundel County are hereby authorized and directed to
levy annually on the taxable property of said county a sum of
money sufficient to pay the interest on the bonds to be issued as
aforesaid, to pay the principal of said bond's to be issued as
aforesaid as they mature, and to maintain said bridge and to
keep the same in good and safe repair.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That on the completion of said
bridge and annually thereafter in the month of May the said
county commissioners are hereby authorized and directed to
appoint some suitable and competent person to act as keeper of
said bridge, whose duty it shall be to attend the opening and
closing of 'the draw of said bridge; and to perform such other
duties in regard to keeping said bridge in proper and safe con-
dition as the county commissioners may direct; and the keeper
of said bridge shall receive as compensation for his services the
sum of one dollar per day, to be provided by the said county
commissioners as authorized in section 3 of this act.

. SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That no traction engine shall be
permitted to pass over said bridge without the written consent
of a majority of the Board of County Commissioners of said
county.

SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That the County Commissioners
of Anne Arundel County shall have full power and authority to
make reasonable rules and regulations for the use of said bridge
by the public and for the protection of said bridge, and shall
have full power and authority to enforce the observance thereof
and of section 5 of this act, by imposing upon the person or
persons violating said rules and regulations of section 5 of this
act any reasonable fine not exceeding ten dollars ($10.00) for
the violation thereof, which fine shall be collected as small debts
