THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND:

In compliance with the provisions of Section 9 of Article 19 of
the Annotated Code of Maryland, I submit herewith a report of the
fiscal activities of the State for the year ended June 30, 1952.

The following figures show at a glance the important items in
the State's fiscal picture at the end of the year:

The Cash Balance was....................................... $38,256,516.67

The General Fund Surplus was.......................... 15,481,041.91

The budget for the fiscal year ending

June 30, 1953 appropriates $7,990,292.50

of that surplus, leaving as free surplus at the

beginning of the new fiscal year the sum of

$7,490,749.41.

The Receipts for the fiscal year 1952 were as
follows:

General Fund...................... $85,537,313.44

Special Fund....................... 157,103,228.92

Loan and Other Funds ...... 67,235,849.76

Total..................................... $309,876,392.12

The Disbursements for the fiscal year 1952
were as follows:

The Bonded Debt was....................................... $91,531,000.00
