Dear Sir :

In obedience to Section 9 of Article 19 of the Code of Public
General Laws of Maryland, I have the pleasure of submitting
herewith a statement of the financial affairs of this State for the
Fiscal Year ending September 30th, 1914.

RECEIPTS.

In Statement "A" you will find the total gross receipts into
the Treasury at the close of the Fiscal Year to be $12,600,566.59,
to which must be added the cash balance on hand October 1st,
1913, of $1,475,956.78, aggregating $14,076,523.37, which amount
is largely in excess of the year previous. This increase, however,
as in the Fiscal Year 1913, was occasioned by proceeds from
large bond sales during that period, which therefore did not in-
crease, nor were they applicable to the ordinary running ex-
penses of the State. There were sold during the year State bonds.
