September last, would make the total amount in the Treasury
during the current fiscal year to be $2,391,003.85.

" Statement D " shows the estimated disbursements for the
current fiscal year to be $1,817,212.30.

FREE SCHOOL AND SINKING FUNDS.

"Statement E" gives a detailed account of the Free School
Fund, and also of the Sinking Funds, for the fiscal year ended
30th September, 1889.

FREE SCHOOL FUND.

The receipts on account of the Free School Fund during the
fiscal year were $69,988.58. This sum added to the balance
standing to the credit of the fund 30th September, 1888, viz.:
$11,617.15, makes an aggregate to the credit of the fund during
the fiscal year 1889 of $81,605.73. The disbursements from the
fund during the same time were $71,405,88, leaving a balance
to the credit of the fund 30th September, 1889, of $10,199.85.
These disbursements are given in detail in "Statement E."

SINKING FUNDS.

" Statement E " also gives in detail the receipts into the sev-
eral Sinking Funds for the fiscal year, viz.:

In the aggregate is included the sum of $71,357.25 received
from the Cincinnati, Washington and Baltimore Railroad Com-
pany for the bonds of the Company held by the State to the
credit of the Sinking Fund for the redemption of the Defence
Redemption Loan and sold by direction of Treasury officers.

There was invested on account of these Sinking Funds during
the past fiscal year the sum of $522,185.26, and there remains to
the credit of the several Sinking Funds in cash the sum of $10,-
103.44.
