General Assembly of the State of Maryland:
In pursuance of the Constitution and laws of the State, I trans-
mit to your Honorable Bodies, the following report of the operations
of the Treasury Department tor the fiscal year, ended 30th Sep
tember, 1875.
RECEIPTS.
The total receipts into the Treasury from all sources during the
fiscal year, amounted to $2,909,080.20, and the balance in the
Treasury 30th September 1874, was $565,100.59, making the ag-
gregate amount in the Treasury during the fiscal year, $3,474,186.79.
Of the amount received during the fiscal year, the sum of
$424,470.58, was from the Baltimore and Ohio Rail Road Company,
in payment of the judgment of the State against said Company,
recovered on account of a portion of the indebtedness for
the one-fifth receipts from passengers on the Washington
Branch Road, $260,000.00 on account of the House of Correc-
tion State Loan, authorised by Act of 1874, chapter 233, $100,000.00
from the State Normal School Loan, authorised by Act of 1874,
chapter 469 and the sum of $59.535.00, was received for insurance
on Tobacco Warehouses destroyed by fire, leaving the receipts from
ordinary sources for the fiscal year 1875, to he $2,065,014.78. This
sum is larger than the amount received from the same sources in
