CHAPTER 91.

Passed Feb. 23,1836

An act to authorise the widening of Carpenters Alley, in

 

the city of Baltimore.

Preamble

WHEREAS, Stephen J. Thompson and others have re-

 

presented that they and others, owners of a large por-

 

tion of the ground on Carpenters alley, in the city of

 

Baltimore, are desirous that said alley should be widen-

 

ed ten feet in addition to the present width, between

 

Green street and Cove street, by taking for said alley,

 

five feet of the ground along and on each side of the

 

same, — Therefore :

Authority to widen

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of

 

Maryland, That upon application of the owners of

 

ground, occupying the major number of feet upon that

 

part of said alley, between Green street and Cove street

 

aforesaid, it shall and may be lawful for the Mayor

 

and City Council of Baltimore, by ordinance, to direct

 

and provide for the widening of the said alley in mari-

 

ner and to the extent aforesaid, between said streets,

 

conformably in all respects to the directions as contain-

 

ed in the act, passed at December session of the year

 

eighteen hundred and thirty-four, chapter two hundred

 

and seventy-seven, for and concerning the widening of

 

the alley therein referred to.

Notice required

SEC. 2. And be it enacted. That before such ordi-

 

nance shall be passed, notice of such application as

 

aforesaid having been made, shall be given by publica-

 

tion daily in all the daily newspapers of Baltimore for

 

at least one week, at the expence of the applicants.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That after the said alley

 

shall have been widened as aforesaid, it shall be called

 

and known by the name of Lemon street inste'ad of

 

Carpenters alley.
