CHAPTER 318.

 
 

CHAP. 318.

An act to Incorporate the Farmers' and Millers' Bank,

Passed Mar .31, 1835

of Hagerstown.

 

SECTION 1. He it enacted by the General Assembly of

Incorporated

Maryland, That a bank to be called and known by the

 

name of the Farmers' ant! Millers' Bank of Hagers-

 

town, shall be established in said town, and that as

Condition

soon as five thousand shares of the capital stock of said

 

company shall have been subscribed as hereinafter pro-

 

vided, the subscribers thereof, shall be, and are here-

 

by made a corporation and body politic, under the

 

name and style of the Farmers' and Millers' Bank of

 

Hagerstown, and by that name shall be, and are here-

Powers

by made capable in law to sue and be sued, plead and

 

be impleaded, answer and be answered, defend and be

 

defended, in any court of record or any other place

 

whatever; and also to make, have and use a common

 

seal, and the same to break, alter and renew at plea-

 

sure, and to make, issue and negociate promissory

 

notes; and to ordain, establish and put into execution

 

such by-laws, ordinances and regulations, as shall

 

seem necessary and convenient, for the government of

 

the said corporation, the same not being contrary to

 

law, or the provisions of this act, and generally to do

 

and execute all and singular, such acts, matters and

 

things, as a corporation or body politic may and can

 

lawfully execute.

 

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the capital stock of

shares of thirty dollars each, one thousand shares

whereof shall be reserved for the use and benefit of the

gislature may direct.

 

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That William Keyser,

John Davis, Abraham Barnes, Joseph Gabby, William

 

H. Fitzhugh, Lewis Zeigler, John Sharer, William

 

D. Bell, John Byers, William Price, John Newcomer,

 

Frederick Dorsey, Jonathan Hager, John Horine, Da-

 

vid G. Yost, Otho H. Williams and James Swopc, be,

 

and they are hereby appointed commissioners, under
