CHAPTER 300.

An act for the building of a bridge over a stream across
|
Passed April 4 1836
|
the road leading from Salisbury, to Direckson's cross
|
 
|
roads, in Worcester County.
|
 
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
|
Commissioners
|
Maryland, That Jacob Riggin, Elijah Hearn and John
|
 
|
Perdue, be and they are hereby appointed commis-
|
 
|
sioners, a majority of whom shall have power to act.
|
 
|
to contract with and employ any person or persons to
|
 
|
build and complete abridge over a stream on the pub-
|
 
|
lic road, leading from Salisbury to Direckson's cross
|
 
|
roads, in Worcester county.
|
 
|
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That it shall be the duty
|

of the aforesaid commissioners, or a majority of them,

bidder

to offer the contract for building said bridge to the

|
lowest bidder, by advertisement setup in at least four
|

of the most public places in the neighbourhood, at least

|
two weeks before the letting out of the same, and the
|

purchaser shall give bond to the commissioners for
|
 
|
double the amount of the contract, with security to be
|
 
|
approved by the commissioners, for constructing and
|
 
|
completion of said bridge in the manner set forth by them.
|
 
|
SEC. 3. And be it enacted. That the aforesaid com-

missioners, or a majority of them, after contracting
|
 
|
for the building of said bridge shall report the amount
|
 
|
of said contract to the levy court of Worcester county,
|
 
|
who are hereby authorised and required to levy the
|

same on the assessable property of said county, to be

paid by the collector to the builder or builders of said
|
 
|
bridge, or his or their order.
|
 
|
SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the levy court oi

Worcester county, he and they are hereby authorised
|
 
|
and directed to allow to each of said commissioners,
|
 
|
such compensation for their services as they may deem
|
 
|
reasonable, and that the same be levied and collected
|
 
|
as aforesaid.
