CHAP. 296.

City Guards ex-cept

vileges of the Baltimore City Guards, se far as they are exempt from militia duty.

 

CHAPTER 996.

Passed Mar. 31,1836

A supplement to an act, entitled, an act to provide for

 

the public instruction of youth, in Primary Schools

 

throughout this State, passed December session, eigh-

 

teen hundred and twenty-Jive, chapter one hundred

 

and sixty two, so far as relates to Montgomery coun-

 

ty.

Commissioners to apportion

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of

 

Maryland, That the commissioners of Primary Schools

 

of Montgomery county, be, and they are hereby autho-

 

rised and directed to apportion among the school dis-

 

tricts in said county, according to the number of chil-

 

dren in the said districts, between the ages of seven

 

and eighteen years, the dividends or profits ai'ising on

 

the school fund already invested; also all the monies

 

which may accrue and become payable to said county,

 

to he appropriated for the support of Primary Schools,

 

in said county; and so soon as the inhabitants of any

 

school district in said county, shall have built or other-

 

wise provided a school house, and employed a teacher

 

in said district, six months, and as soon as such fact

 

shall be certified to the said commissioners of Primary

To draw on Treas. Western Shore

Schools, in writing, by the trustees of said district, to

 

draw on the treasurer of the Western Shore, in favor

 

of said trustees, for the full proportion of the dividends

to which such district may be entitled, to be applied by

 

the said trustees towards the payment of the salaries

 

of the teachers in said district, and in case the inhabi-

 

tants of any school district in said county, shall neg-

lect or refuse to build, or otherwise procure a school

 

house in said district, and employ a teacher as afore-

 

said, for two years from the passage of this act, then
