and singular such acts, matters and things, as a cor-

Capital stock
|
SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the capital stock of
|
 
|
said bank shall be not less than five hundred thousand
|
 
|
dollars, nor more than one million of dollars, divided
|
 
|
into shares of twenty-five dollars each, and shall con-
|
 
|
sist of the shares of stock that shall be, allotted as is
|
 
|
hereinbefore provided, and of such other shares of
|
 
|
stock as subscribed for and allotted as hereinafter pro-
|

vided; and it is hereby further enacted, that the, value
|
 
|
of the estate of the aforementioned society, shall bo as-
|
 
|
certained and certified to the treasurer of the Western
|
 
|
Shore of Maryland, by such persons as he shall appoint
|
 
|
to ascertain and report thereon to him; and it shall not
|
 
|
be lawful for the president and directors of said bank
|
 
|
to estimate any portion of Maid estate, winch shall he
|
 
|
a part of the capital of said bank, in their settlements
|
 
|
with the proprietors of said society, at a higher price
|
 
|
or value than shall have been fixed thereon, by the per-
|
 
|
sons who shall have been appointed to value the same
|
 
|
by the said treasurer.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the President and
|

Directors of said Bank, be, and they are hereby ap-
|
 
|
pointed commissioners under the direction of a ma-
|
 
|
jority of whom subscriptions may be received to the
|
 
|
capital stock of the Western Bank, hereby incorporat-
|

ed; and they or a majority of them shall cause books
|
 
|
to he opened at such times in the city of Baltimore,
|
 
|
and at each of the county towns of the several coun-
|
 
|
ties in this State, and such other places, as they may
|
 
|
direct, for the purpose of receiving subscriptions to
|
 
|
the capital stock of said Bank, after giving at least
|
 
|
four weeks notice in all the daily newspapers publish-
|
 
|
ed in the city of Baltimore, and in such other newspa-
|
 
|
pers as they may think proper, of such times, places
|
 
|
and purpose; that upon the first opening of said books,
|
 
|
they shall be kept open from day to day, for six days
|
 
|
exclusive of Sunday, from ten o'clock, A. M. until
|
 
|
two o'clock P. M. and if at the expiration of that pe-
|
 
|
riod, subscriptions to the said capital stock shall not
|
 
|
have been obtained to the amount of twenty thousand
