SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
|

Maryland, That upon application as prescribed by the

act passed at December session, of the year eighteen
|
 
|
hundred and thirty four, chapter two hundred and
|
 
|
seventy seven, entitled, a supplement to the act, enti-
|
 
|
tled an act relating to the city of Baltimore, it shall be
|

duty of the Mayor and city Council of Baltimore, in

manner, and conformity to all the provisions pre-
|
 
|
scribed by said act to open and condemn as a public
|
 
|
street so much of Madison street, between Howard
|
 
|
street and York Avenue in said city, as has not here-
|
 
|
tofore been opened and condemned, and as the same
|
 
|
in width and otherwise has been laid down and delinea-
|
 
|
ted by the commissioners, upon the plots by them re-
|
 
|
turned, under the act passed at December session, of
|
 
|
the year eighteen hundred and seventeen, chapter one
|
 
|
hundred and forty-eight, entitled, an act relating to
|
 
|
the city of Baltimore; except however, that so much of
|

said Madison street, as may be in front of the yard walls

of the Jail and Penitentiary, shall there be of such width
|
 
|
only, as to reach upon its Northern side, the foot of
|
 
|
said walls, and said Madison street when opened as
