SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That said corps shall be

and each company by a Captain, four Lieutenants, four

 

Sergeants, and four Corporals; the Colonel, Lieutenant

 

Colonel, and Major of each regiment, to be elected by

 

the commissioned officers of the several companies of

 

each regiment respectively; the Brigadier General by

 

the field officers and commissioned officers of the com-

 

panies, and the company officers by the companies re-

 

spectively; and none but members of the Baltimore

 

City Guards shall he eligible as officers, except for

 

Brigadier General.

Staff officers

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the Brigadier Gene-

 

ral shall hare power to appoint a Brigade Major and

 

Inspector, and such Aids as to him may seem proper;

 

that the Colonel of each regiment shall have power to

 

appoint an Adjutant, a Quarter-master, a Paymaster,

 

a Surgeon and Mate, a Sergeant Major, a Quarter-

 

master's Sergeant, and a Paymaster's Sergeant; and

 

each company shall have power to appoint a Quarter-

 

master, and a Quarter-master's Sergeant, and to make

 

such by-laws for their own government, as they may

 

deem proper, not repugnant to the provisions of this act.

Commission

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That the Governor and

 

Council shall issue commissions to the present officers

 

of the Baltimore City Guards, and to such as may

 

hereafter he elected or appointed, as hereinbefore pro-

 

vided.

Parades

SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That there shall be one

 

brigade parade of the Baltimore City Guards, and no

 

more, in each year, for inspection, on such day as may

 

be appointed by the Brigadier General.
