WHEREAS, it has been deemed necessary and expe-

dient to establish a Military Corps within the city of

 

Baltimore, for the special purpose of acting in aid of

 

the civil authorities of that city on all proper occasions,

 

in the maintenance of peace and good order within the

 

limits of said city, and to that end a Brigade has been

 

formed under the name of the Baltimore City Guards,

 

to consist of twelve companies, one from each of the

 

several wards of that city: — Therefore,

 

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of

Guards established

Maryland, That the Baltimore City Guards be, and

&c.

they are hereby established as a Military Corps, for

 

the purpose above mentioned, and that they he and they

 

are hereby declared to be exempt from all other military

 

duty than that which is provided for by this act.

 

SKC. 2. Jind be it enacted, That said corps shall be a

brigade consisting of two regiments, four battalions,

regiment shall consist of the six companies of the first,

 

second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth wards of the city

nies of the seventh,' eighth, ninth, tenth, eleventh and

 

twelfth wards thereof; the companies of the first, second

 

and third wards, forming the first battalion of the first

 

regiment; the companies of the fourth, fifth and sixth

 

wards, forming the second battalion of the first regi-

 

ment; the companies of the seventh, eighth and ninth

 

wards, forming the first battalion of the second regi'
