CHAP. 128,

said company, for which the Said city may subscribe

 

in pursuance of this act, and whiich shall be owned by

 

said city, at the time of the annual elections of the

 

President and Directors of said company, but the said

 

city shall not be permitted to vote upon said stock in

 

the election of the Directors by the stockholders, in

Proviso

general meeting; Provided, that nothing herein con-

 

tained shall be taken to impair the right which the

 

said city has, to have two directors of the said com-

 

pany, for the five thousand shares of stock in said

 

company, already held by it, whether it should make

 

the subscription hereby authorised or not, nor in any

 

event to have more than twelve Directors of said com-

 

pany.

 

CHAPTER 128.

Passed Mar. 4,1836

An act to alter and amend the Constitution and Form of

 

Government, so as to require the assent of two thirds

 

of each branch of the Legislature to annul a mor-

 

riage contract.

No divorce to be enacted without

SECTION 1. Be it enactedby the General Assembly of

two thirds con-. cur

Maryland, That from and after the passage of this act

 

and the confirmation thereof as the Constitution re-

 

quires, the Legislature of this State shall not pass any

 

law annulling the marriage contract, or in nature of a

 

divorce, a vinculo matrimonii, or a mensaet thora, un-

 

less two thirds of each branch of the Legislature, who

 

are present concur therein.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That a divorce shall in

applications for

divorce to be ta-ken according to act 1829, ch. 20

no instance be granted in the State of Maryland, un-less the party or parties in whose behalf such divorce

 

is ought to be obtained, shall have been bona fide resi-

 

dents within the State of Maryland for at least

 

twelve months, next before the application; for said di-

 

vorce.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That all such parts of

 

the Constitution form of Government as are in-

 

consistent with the provisions of this act, be and the

 

same are hereby repealed, and the said act shall be con-
