CHAP. 121.

CHAPTER 120.

Passed Feb.15, 1832

An act for the relief of Mary Keplinger of the city of Bal-
timore.

Divorce granted,

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Ma-
ryland, That from and after the passage of this act, the mar-
riage contract between John Keplinger, and Mary Kepling-
er, of the city of Baltimore, is hereby declared to be annull-
ed and destroyed, and the authority, power and conircl of
the said John Keplinger, over and to the person and proper-
ty of Mary Keplinger, his wife, shall henceforth cease, and
determine, and all the rights which the said John Keplinger,
acquired by the said marriage contract, shall henceforth ut-
terly cease and determine; and the said Mary Keplinger is
hereby declared to be divorced from her husband John
Keplinger, as entirely, and to as full extent, as if the said
John Keplinger were dead, or as if she, the said Mary Kep-
linger, had never been joined in matrimony with him.

Feme sole.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the said Mary Keplinger
shall be, and she is hereby declared capable to have, hold,
take, receive, sue for and recover by compromise, suit or
suits, in law or equity, property of any kind, whether real,
personal or mixed, in as full and ample a manner, as if she
were, and had always been a feme sole, and to hold, use,
and enjoy the same for her will and pleasure, without the
let, hindrance, molestation, interference or consent of her
husband John Keplinger, in as full and ample a manner, as if
she were, and always had been, a feme sole, and may in her
own name sue and be sued at law and in, equity.

Guardianship.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That the aforesaid Mary Kep-
linger be, and she is hereby declared to be entitled to the
custody and guardianship of her children by her present
marriage, during their minority.

 

CHAPTER 121.

Passed Feb 16, 1832

An act for the relief of George Baltzell, Collector of Taxes
for Frederick county.

Power to collect.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Ma-
ryland, That in all cases in which George Baltzell, collec-
tor of the taxes in Frederick county, has paid or shall pay
taxes for the persons liable for the same, and has been and
shall be allowed for such payments in his settlements with the
levy court of Frederick county, it shall and may be lawful for
