1831.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the lot of ground here-
tofore purchased by sundry citizens, and on which they
have erected a school house, which will hereafter go by
the name of Mount Nebo Public School, with its appurte-
nances, be and the same is hereby vested in the trustees
aforesaid, and their successors forever, for the benefit oi
said school, and to and for no other use and benefit what-
ever: Provided, that the present trustees of said school con-
sent to the same.

CHAP. 107.

Property vested.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That all acts or deeds of the
said corporation shall be signed by the trustees aforesaid or
a majority of them, in behalf of the corporation, and sealed
with their corporate seal, and all acts or deeds of said cor-
poration so authenticated, shall be good and valid in law,
and the said corporation shall have full power and authority
to sell oi exchange the said lot of ground or any part there-
of, and shall be capable of purchasing and holding real and
personal property, not exceeding in value two thousand dol-
lars, for the use and benefit of said school.

CHAPTER 107.

 

A supplement to the act, entitled, An act to Incorporate Em-
mitsburg, in Frederick county.

Passed Feb. 13, 1832

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Ma
ryland, That the commissioners of Emmittsburg, shall have
full power and authority to enact and pass all laws and or-
dinances to prevent the introduction of contagious diseases,
within the town, and within one mile of the same; to pave
and keep in repair the side of foot walks in said town; to
regulate party walls and partition fences, to provide for and
regulate the sweeping or burning of chimneys, and fixing the
rates thereof within the town,and for the regulating the sweep-
ing of any chimney by which the safety of the town may
be endangered; to regulate and keep in repair all live streets,
lanes and alleys in said town; to restrain or prohibit gaming
and to provide for licensing and regulating or restraining
theatrical or other public exhibitions and amusements with-
in the limits of the corporation; to enact by-laws for the
prevention and extinguishment of fire in said town; to re-
gulate and prevent clogs from going at large in said town,
in all cases where the safety of the town may require it,
and for taxing them; to regulate and prevent hogs and horses
from going at large in said town; to punish corporally any
