CHAP 71.

administration books or records of the administrations
on the estates of deceased persons in said county, as in
their judgment the public good shall require to be made
out or transcribed, provided the said books or records so
to be made up or transcribed, shall not exceed five books
or records when completed, and the said court shall direct
the manner and form in which such books and records shall
be made up or transcribed.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That it shall he the duty of
the said court to examine such books or records, when they
shall be so made up or transcribed, and when approved of
by the said court, the same shall be placed in the office of
the register of wills for the said county, and shall he con-
sidered as a part of the records of the said court and office,
to all intents and purposes, and shall be as valid, and have
the same authority as any other record or book in the said
court or office.

Certificate to
be valid.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That a certificate, under the
hand and seal of the register of wills for said county, that
it appears by the records in his office that letters testamen-
tarv or of administration or of collection have been grant-
ed,' shall be as good and available in any case whatever,
and to all intents and purposes, as the original letters testa-
mentary or of administration or of collection, duly granted,
would or could be if exhibited.

Allowance

Sec. 4. And he it enacted, That the said conn are au-
thorised to allow the said register such a reasonable com-
pensation for his trouble and expenses in performing the
services required by this act as they may deem just and
right, and the same shall be ascertained and apportioned
by them between the county and city of Baltimore, io the
same way as the other expenses of the said court in the
administration of justice therein is now ascertained and ap-
portioned, and shall be levied in the same manner, and col-
lected with the other city and county levies.
