CHAP. 61.

over Big Elk Creek, on the road fiom the village of Elk-
ton, on the road leading past the site of the old Market-
house, towards Warwick, in said county, and contract with
one or more persons for rebuilding said bridge in a good
and substantial manner, on the best possible terms, taking
bond of the said contractor or contractors, with sufficient
security, for the due and faithful performance of the con-
tract

Bridge to be
free.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That whenever the said Big
Elk creek bridge is completed, the same shall be and re-
main a free bridge forever thereafter.

CHAPTER 60.
A n Act to confirm a Deed of Manumission therein
mentioned.
|

|
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That a deed of manumission in favour of cer-
tain negroes therein mentioned, executed by Nathaniel
Chew, dated the first day of October eighteen hundred and
twenty-four, and duly acknowledged, be and the same is
hereby declared to be good and valid, and of equal lorce
and effect, as if it had been attested by two witnesses, and
recorded in the time required by law.

Not to affect
any suit now
pending.
|
Sec. £. And be it enacted. That nothing in this act con-
tained shall affect any suit now pending in any court in
this state, or any bona fide purchaser, who has heretofore
purchased said slaves without notice of the execution of
said deed.

Antietam Creek, on the road leading from Sharps-
burgh to Harper's Ferry, in Washington County.
