A Resolution in favour of Anna M. Smyth.
Resolved, That the treasurer of the western shore pay to
Anna M. Smyth, widow of the late Thomas Smyth, who
was a major in the revolution, or to her order, during her
widowhood, in quarter-yearly payments, a sum of money
equal to the half pay of a lieutenant, in consideration for
the services of her said husband.

A Resolution requiring the Commissioners of the School
Fund for Calvert County, to make an annual report to
the Legislature of the manner of distributing said Fund.
Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the commissioners of the school fund for Calvert county, be
and they are hereby directed and required, to report to the
legislature, on or before the first day of February, in each
and every year hereafter, in what manner they have dis-
tributed said fund, and also the number of children receiv-
ing the benefits thereof.

A Resolution relative to the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal
Company.
Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the charter granted to the Chesapeake and Ohio canal com-
pany was not intended to interfere with private property,
except for the purpose of perfecting the navigation — that
by conferring upon that company the right to sell or dis-
pose of the surplus water of their canal, where wastes or
sluices were absolutely essential to the security of their ca-
nal, it was onlv intended to give to the said company the
availment of such waste or surplus water as unavoidably
