CHAPTER 176.

 
 

An Act to provide for the purchase of the Office Pa-
pers, formerly belonging to the Surveyor's Office of
Frederick County, and to repeal an act therein men-
tioned. s

Passed Feb 23.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the act of assembly passed at December
session eighteen hundred and twenty-five, chapter one hun-
dred and seventy-eight, be and the same is hereby repeal-
ed.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the levy court of Fre-
derick county be and they are hereby authorised, if in their
discretion they think the same right and proper, to appoint
three commissioners to inspect, value and purchase, the
certificates of surveys, resurveys, plats, and any other pa-
pers, which they in their judgment may deem essential
and important to the interests of the landholders, and
other citizens of Frederick county, whether signed or not
by the former surveyors of said county, and now in the
possession of David Bowlus, and allow to the said David
Bowlus such compensation as they shall deem just and
reasonable.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That the commissioners so
appointed shall report their proceedings to the levy court
aforesaid, and if they shall approve of the proceedings of
the commissioners aforesaid, the levy court are hereby au-
thorised and required to levy and assess, on the assessable
property of Frederick county, a sum sufficient to cover all
expenses incurred under this act, to be collected and paid
as other county charges are.

Sec. 4. And be it enacted, That when the said papers
or plats are procured as aforesaid, they shall deliver the
same to the surveyor of the county, who shall file them in
his office, and from thenceforth be considered and kept as
public papers by the present surveyor of Frederick county,
and in the office or offices of his successor.
