CHAPTER 131.
An Act for the benefit of John Contee Keith.

1830,
CHAP. 132.
Passed Feb 21.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That John Contee Keith be, and he is hereby authorised,
at any time after the passage of this act, to remove from the
state of Virginia, or from the District of Columbia, to this
state, the following negro slaves; Susan, George, Anthony,
Hannah, Ann, Mary Jane, Patsy, Amanda, Richard, Ma-
riah, Laura Ann, Samuel, Henry, and Washington, the

property of him the said John Contee Keith; Provided,
that the said John Contee Keith shall file with the clerk of
the county court of that county to which the said slaves
may be removed, within three months thereafter, a list of
such slaves, to be recorded, designating their ages, names
and sexes; And provided, that nothing in this act contain-
ed, shall be construed to authorise a deposition of the said
slaves, except by last will and testament, or by law for bona
fide debts, or consequent upon intestacy within the
term oi three years after the passage of this act.

CHAPTER 132.

 
 

A Supplement to an act. entitled, Ai act relating lo the
appointment of Constables in this State, and for
other purposes, passed, at December session eighteen
hundred and twenty-four, chapter one hundred and
forty.

Passed Feb 2i

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That from and after the first day of June next,
it shall no be lawful for the levy court of Dorchester coun-
ty, to appoint more than two constables in each election
district in said county.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That so much of the act, en-
titled, An act relating to the appointment of constables in
this state, and for other purposes, passed at December ses-
sion eighteen hundred and twenty-four, chapter one hun-
dred and forty, as is inconsistent with, or repugnant to, the
provisions of this act, be and the same is hereby repealed.
