CHAP 113.

and the said commissioners shall have straightened and
amended the said road, the levy court of Montgomery
county is hereby authorised and required, to levy on the
assessable property of said county, a sum of money suffi-
cient to build a substantial bridge over the Northwest
Branch, where the said road so straightened and amended
shall cross the same, and keep said bridge in repair as other
bridges are kept in repair in said county.

 
 

CHAPTER 113.

An Act prescribing the duties of the several Armourers
of this State, and relating to the Public Arms.

Oath to be ta-
ker.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That from and after the passage of this act,
each of the armourers of this state shall, before he pro-
ceeds to the execution of the trust reposed in him, take
the following oath, or affirmation, before some person au-
thorised to administer the same: 1, ———— , do swear, or
affirm, (as the case may he,) that 1 will be true and faith-
ful to the state of Maryland.

Bond to be
given.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That each of the armourers,
before he proceeds to the execution of his duties, shall
give bond conditioned for the faithful discharge of his du-
ties, to the state of Maryland, with security to be approv-
ed of by the governor and council, with the following pe-
nalties, viz. The armourer at Annapolis in the penalty of
five thousand dollars, the armourer at Easton in the penal-
ty of two thousand dollars, and the armourer at Frederick
in the penalty of one thousand dollars,

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That it shall be the duty of
each of the armourers of this state, to report annually to
the adjutant-general, on or before the first dav of October,
the actual state of the armoury under his control, designat-
ing in such report the number of arms and accoutrements,
and particularising the fitness or unfitness of any portion
of them for public service; and also the quantity of the
diflerent materials of war, with the quality of the same.

Sec. 4. And be it enacted. That it shall be the duty of
the armourer at the city of Annapolis, whenever arms, ac-
coutrements or munitions, are placed in his hands, to give
information thereof to the adjutant-general, whose duty it
shall be to see the same deposited in the armoury, and keep
