CHAP, 97,

LAWS OF MARYLAND.
school district in which the said city is or may fee situated,,
and a copy of the bond of the collector, under the seal of
the said city, (which the said trustees shall have on demand
without fee or charge,) shall be sufficient evidence of the
execution thereof.

CHAPTER 06.
An Act for the benefit of Horatio Claggett of Alexan-
dria.

May bring
slaves into
state
Provisos

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Horatio Claggett of Alexandria, District of Colum-
bia, be, and he is hereby authorised, at any time after the
passage of this act, to remove from the State of Virginia,
or the. District of Columbia, to this state, the following; ne-
gro slaves; Ann, Robert, Margery and Alexander; Provid-
ed, that the said Horatio Claggett shall file with the clerk
of the county court of that county to which the said slaves
may be removed, within three months thereafter, a list of
such slaves, to be recorded, designating their ages, names
and sexes; And provided,, that nothing in this act contain-
ed shall be construed to authorise a deposition of the said
slaves except by last will and testament, or by law for bo-
na fide debts, or consequent upon intestacy, within the
term of three years after the passage of this act.

CHAPTER 97.
An Act regulating the manner of levying on the asses-
sable Property in Anne-Arundel County, for the
support of Primary Schools in said County.

Trustees may
require pay-
ment.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the trustees of any primary school dis-
trict in Anne-Arundel county, shall be and they are hereby
authorised, in their discretion, to require from any child
attending school the payment of any sum of money not ex-
ceeding twenty-fire cents a month, to be applied to the
payment of the expenses of the school; and in the exercise
