Amend by adding: "This Act shall take effect from the
date of the expiration of the terms for. which the present
Board of Police have been elected."

Which was adopted.

Said bill, as amended, was then read the second time and
ordered to be engrossed for a third reading.

Mr. Earle, from the Committee on Finance, reported favor-
ably a bill entitled "An Act to refund to Nathan O. Neigh-
bors, late Sheriff of Frederick county, the sum of forty-nine
dollars and fifty-nine cents, for money overpaid by him in
the Treasury,"

Which was read the first time.

The Clerk of the House of Delegates appeared and deliver-
ed the following message :

BY THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES,

January 23rd, 1874.
Gentlemen of the Senate :

We have received your message proposing that the Sena-
tors of Baltimore city, act as a Joint Committee with the
Special Committee, on the "Police Law," of Baltimore city,
heretofore appointed by the House of Delegates, and respect-
fully concur therein.

By order,

MILTON Y. KIDD,

Chief Clerk.
Also,

House bill entitled "An Act authorizing and directing the
State Librarian to furnish from the State Library, for the use
of the Circuit Court for Garrett county, a full set of the deci-
sions of the Court of Appeals, and of the Acts of Assembly,
and other books."

Which was read the first time and referred to the Commit-
tee on the Library.

Also,

House bill entitled "An Act to vest certain property there-
in mentioned, in the Westminster Presbyterian Church, in
Kent county."

Which was read the first, time, and referred to Messrs.
Spencer, Knight and. Earle,
