1874.] OF THE SENATE. 855

The House bill entitled an Act to repeal the Act of 1870,
chapter 59, directing the Attorney-General to cause the State
to be made a party in a cause now pending in the Circuit
Court of Baltimore city, entitled "The Commissioners of Vir-
ginia vs. The Chesapeake and Ohio Canal Company, and
others."

Which was read the first time and referred to the Commit-
tee on Judicial Proceedings.

Also,

The House bill entitled an Act relating to the measurement
of Oysters, at Baltimore, Crisfield, and all packing establish-
ments,

Being on its third reading,

Mr. Brattan submitted the following amendment :

Section 1, line 3, strike out the words "or to any boat en-
gaged in the carrying trade."

Which was adopted.

Said bill, as amended, was then passed by yeas and nays
as follows:
