of its delivery to the State of Maryland, and respectfully an-
nounce that we have failed to perceive any sufficient reason
for receding from our Joint Resolution, and have, therefore,
concluded to insist upon the same.

Gentlemen of the Senate :

We propose, with the concurrence of your Honorable Body,
the appointment of a joint Select Committee of five, two on
the part of the Senate, and three on the part of .the House, to
visit the Maryland Institution for the education of the Deaf
and Dumb—to examine into its condition, the manner in
which it is conducted, &c., and to report to the two Houses.

We have appointed on the part of the House, Messrs. Seth,
Hodson and Latchford.

Gentlemen of the House of Delegates:

We have received your message proposing the appointment
of a Committee, consisting of two from the Senate, and three
from the House, to visit the Institution for the instruction of
the Deaf and Dumb, at Frederick, and concur therein.

We name on the part of the Senate, Messrs. Walsh and
Longwell.
