Sec. 54, strike out all after the word "require."
Strike out all of the sections 55, 56 and 57.

At the end of section 57 a., add the words, "But the pro-
visions of this section shall in no manner prevent either par-
ty from summoning witnesses at the trial of said cause, and
the Justice of the Peace or Court trying the same, shall en-
ter judgment upon the testimony of said witnesses, regard-
less of the valuation or assessment of damages aforesaid.

Section 57 b., line 5, after the word "county," add the
words, "in the districts hereinafter mentioned;" and in line
11, after the word "that," insert the words, "the provisions
of this Act have been maliciously violated by said plaintiff,
that its provisions were unknown to him or her, and that;"
and at the end of said section 57, add the words, "and that
none of the provisions of this Act shall take effect until the
1st day of January, 1875.

Which was adopted.

Said bill, as amended, was read the second time.

Mr. Stevens, from the Committee on Judicial Proceed-
ings, reported

A bill entitled an Act to repeal section 58 of Article XXIX.
of the Code of Public General Laws, title "Circuit Court of
Baltimore," and to re-enact the same with amendments.

Which was read the first time.

Mr. Stevens, from the Committee on Corporations, re-
ported

A bill entitled an Act to amend an Act entitled an Act to
incorporate the Merchants Mutual Insurance Company of
Baltimore, and to extend the term of endurance of the same.

Which was read the first time.

Mr, Davis, from a Select Committee, reported

A bill entitled au Act for the better protection of Persons
and Property in Baltimore county.

Which was read the first time.

The Senate adjourned.
