The House bill entitled an Act authorizing and directing
the State Librarian to furnish to the Faculty of Law, of the
University of Maryland, certain Law Books.

Which was read the first time and referred to the Commit-
tee on the Library.

Also, returned

The Senate bill entitled an Act to regulate the number of
Justices of the Peace and Constables for Garrett county.

Endorsed, "Passed by yeas and nays, with proposed
amendment.

AMENDMENT PROPOSED.

Section J. Strike out all after the word "Constable," in line
7, and insert the following in lieu thereof: "For Election
District Number 5, two Justices of the Peace and one Con-
stable ; for Election District Number 6, two Justices of the
Peace and one Constable ; for Election District Number 7, two
Justices of the Peace and two Constables ; for Election District
Number 8, two Justices of the Peace and one Constable ; for
Election District Number 9, one Justice of the Peace and one
Constable, and that the Governor, be and is hereby author-
ized and empowered to appoint and commission such Jus-
tices of the Peace."

Which was read, and the bill ordered to lie over.
Also, returned

The bill entitled an Act to extend the charter of the New
York Mining Company, and the supplement thereto.

Endorsed, "Passed by yeas and nays."
Also,

The Senate bill entitled an Act to add au additional sec-
tion to Article IV. of the Code of Public Local Laws, title
"City of Baltimore," entitled "Police," and to be section
830 of said Article.

Endorsed, "Passed by yeas and nays."
Mr. Davis called up

The Senate bill entitled an Act to provide for the indexing
of the Land and Chattel Records of Baltimore county.

Which was read the second time and ordered to be en-
grossed for a third reading.
