538 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Mar. 12,

THURSDAY, March 12th, 1874,

The Senate met at 11 o'clock, A. M.

Prayer by Rev. Mr. Kinzer.

Present at roll call the following Senators :

Messrs. President, Blake, Brewer, Billingsley, Brattan,
Crawford, Claggett, Davis, Denson, Earle, Fields, Getty,.
Knight, Longwell, Lloyd, Mudd, McCulloh, Phelps, Stevens,
Steiner, Spencer, Suit, Tuck, Williams, Walsh—25.

The proceedings of yesterday were read and approved.

Mr. Lloyd presented the petition of sundry citizens of
Talbot county, against the passage of the Dog Law.

Also,

Petition of a number of voters of Talbot county, asking
increased compensation for destroying Foxes.

Which were read and referred to the Committee on Agri-
culture.

Mr. Walsh presented the petition of Abraham Rutledge,
Clement Butler and other citizens of Harford county, pro-
testing aginst the passage of a law authorizing the County
Commissioners, of said county, to subscribe to Railroad
stocks, for and in the name of the county.

Which was read and referred to Messrs. Walsh, Longwell
and Lloyd.

The President laid before the Senate a communication from
Francis T. King, M. D., on the subject of Immigration.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Labor
and Immigration.

On motion by Mr. Knight,

Leave was granted to Messrs. Knight, Walsh and Long-
well to report a bill entitled an Act for the protection of
young fish in the waters of Elk River and its Tributaries
within the limits of Cecil county.

Mr. Walsh presented the petition of citizens of Baltimore
and Harford counties, to amend the charters of certain Turn-
pikes.
