WEDNESDAY, March 11th, 1874.

The Senate met.

Prayer by Rev. W. H. D. Harper.

Present the following Senators :

Messrs. President, Aydelott, Blake, Brewer, Brattan.
Crawford, Claggett, Davis, Denson, Earle, Fields, Getty,
Knight, Longwell, Lloyd, Mudd, McCulloh, Phelps, Stevens,
Steiner, Spencer, Williams, Walsh—23.

The proceedings of yesterday were read and approved.

Mr. Blake presented the petitions of Prudence Patterson,
aged seventy-two years, asking to be restored to the pension
roll; Ursula Binyon, aged sixty-six years, asking to be placed
on the pension roll in place of her husband, now dead.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Pen-
sions.

Mr. Knight presented the petition of forty-one citizens of
Cecil county, against the passage of a Local Option Law.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Tem-
perance.

Mr. Brattan presented the petition of one hundred and
twenty-one citizens of Somerset county, asking for a Fence
Law.

Which was read and referred to Messrs. Bruttan, Tuck
and Steincr.

Mr. Mudd presented the petition of John E. Turner, John
D. Bowling, Thomas Martin and one hundred and sixteen
other citizens of Prince George's and Charles counties, pray-
ing a law to protect the fish of the Patuxent River, and the
rights of citizens in and to the same.

Which was read and referred to Messrs. Mudd, Williams
and Fields.

Mr. Walsh preseuted the petition of John Clayman and
other citizens of Harford coanty, to extend the jurisdiction of
Justices of the Peace in said county.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Judicial
Proceedings.
