Which was read the first time and referred to the Com-
mittee on Judicial Proceedings.

Also,

The House bill entitled au Act to protect sheep in the
State of Maryland.

Which was read the first time and referred to the Com-
mittee on Agirculture.

Also,

The House bill entitled an Act to authorize the Governor,
Comptroller and Treasurer to settle the accounts of Charles
E. Maguire, late weigher of live stock, and to compromise
with his sureties if in their judgment the same is advisable.

Which was read the first time and referred to the Com-
mittee on Finance.

Also,

The House bill entitled an Act to authorize and empower
the Mayor, Aldermen and Common Council of Frederick to
subscribe to the capital stock of the Frederick and Pennsyl-
vania Line Rail Road Company, and to endorse the bonds of
the said company.

Which was read the first time and referred to the Com-
mittee on Judicial Proceedings.

On motion by Mr. Lloyd,

The Senate took a recess until 12 o'clock, M., in order to
give an opportunity to the Committee of Arrangements to
prepare the Chamber for the inauguration of the Governor
elect.

At 12 o'clock, M., the Senate met, pursuant to adjourn-
ment.

The hour of 12 o'clock, M., having arrived, the Hon.
James B. Groome, the Governor elect, accompanied by His
Excellency, Governor White, and the respective Committees
of the Senate and House of Delegates, appeared in the Senate
Chamber and took seats assigned them.

The Honorable, the Speaker, and Members of the House of
Delegates appeared, whereupon the Governor elect arose and
delivered an address in the presence of the General Assembly,
the Honorable Judges of the Court of Appeals, and a large
concourse of citizens, when the oath of office was administered
by the Hon. James L. Bartol, Chief Judge of the Court of
Appeals, agreebly to the Constitution.
