Which was read and referred to the Committee on Agri-
culture.

Mr. Claggett presented the petition of sundry citizens of
Washington county, to allow the Sheriff fifty cents per day
for keeping prisoners.

Which was read and referred to Messrs. Claggett, Craw-
ford and Phelps.

On motion by Mr. Davis,

Leave was granted to Messrs. Davis, Brattan and Wil-
liams, to report a bill entitled an Act to require all auction-
eers making sales in Baltimore county to pay a license fee.

Mr. Tuck presented the petition of twenty-two citizens of
Anne Arundel county, to regulate fishing in the Patuxent
River.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Chesa-
peake Bay and its Tributaries.

On motion by Mr. Claggett,

Leave was granted to Messrs. Claggett, Crawford and
Phelps, to report a bill entitled an Act to allow time to Wil-
liam McK Keppler, late Clerk of the Circuit Court for Wash-
ington cotinty, to complete the records and other unfinished
work in his office, at the expiration of his official term.

Mr. Aydelott presented the petition of thirty citizens of Wor-
cester county, in favor of a special law in relation to oysters
in Synapuxent Bay in said county.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Chesa-
peake Bay and its Tributaries!

On motion by Mr. Aydelott,

Leave was granted to Messrs. Aydelott, Getty and Wil-
liams, to report a bill authorizing the Board of County School
Commissioners of Worcester county, to sell and purchase cer-
tain property in Snow Hill.

On motion by Claggett,

Leave was granted to Messrs. Claggett, Crawford and
Phelps, to report a bill entitled an Act to repeal section 292,
Article XXI. of the Code of Public Local Laws, title "Wash-
ington county," Bub-title "Sheriff," and to amend and re-
enact the same.

The Clerk of the House of Delegates appeared and deliv-
ered the following message:
