414 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Feb. 27,

Maryland to the bequest of John Coates, late of Baltimore
city, deceased, to the Trustees of the Methodist Protestant
Church, corner of Lombard and Green streets, in the city of
Baltimore, passed at January Session, 1872, chapter 308,
approved April 1st, 1872, and to confirm and declare the
sanction of the General Assembly of Maryland to said bequest
of said John Coates, deceased.

Which was read the first time and referred to the Commit-
tee on Judicial Proceedings.

Also,

The House bill entitled an Act to add a new section to
Article V. of the Code of Public Local Laws, title "Calvert
county," sub-title "Jurors."

Which was read the first time and referred to Messrs. Wil-
liams, Spencer and Tuck.

Also,

The House bill entitled an Act supplementary to an Act
entitled an Act to authorize the Mayor and City Council of
Baltimore to issue bonds of the city of Baltimore to an
amount not exceeding two millions, five hundred thousand
dollars for the purpose of providing means for the improve-
ment of Jones Falls.

Which was read the first time and referred to the Commit-
tee on Judicial Proceedings.

Also,

The House bill entitled an Act to repeal chapter 69 of the
Acts of Assembly of 1864, and the section therein provided
to be added to the Code of Public Local Laws, in relation to
the levying of direct tax by the Mayor and City Council
of Baltimore, and to re-enact the said sections with amend-
ments.

Which was read the first time and referred to the Commit-
tee on Judicial Proceedings.

Also,

The House bill entitled an Act to enlarge the powers of
the County Commissioners of Washington county.

Which was read the first time and referred to Messrs,
Claggett, Crawford and Phelps.

Also,

The House bill entitled ah Act to repeal section 25 of Arti-
cle XIII. of the Code of Public Local Laws entitled "Howard
county, sub-title Justices of the Peace and Constables," and
