ordinances shall be put up in the most public places

of said town, that the same may be generally known :

and that said commissioners so elected shall have
|
 
|
power to meet and adjourn from time to time as
|
 
|
they in their discretion may think proper.
|
 
|
SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That the acting president
|
 
|
of each board of commissioners, for the town afore-
|
 
|
said, shall from time to time cause the clerk thereof
|

next ensuing election, and that the president of said

commissioners shall be the judge of said election and

shall open the polls at two o'clock in the evening

and shall return his certificate of the persons elected
|

to the said commissioners on the day first appointed
|
 
|
for their meeting, and the same shall be filed and
|

recorded among their proceedings.

SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That James Satterfield, J.

B. Bishop, Alexander Matthews, Thomas S. Holt,
|
 
|
and William E. Mason, are hereby appointed and
|
 
|
constituted the first board of commissioners for said

E. Mason clerk, to hold their offices from the pas-

sage of this act until the first Saturday of May, in

the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and seventy-

have been duly elected and qualified.

|
SEC. 8. And be it enacted, That every commissioner

|
to be elected in pursuance of this act, before he shall

county aforesaid, that he will diligently and faith-

ity or prejudice ; and a certificate of such qualifica-

tion shall be made and returned by such justice of

|
the peace to the said commissioners, to be filed and
|
 
|
recorded among their proceedings.
