of the rights and privileges hereby granted shall be

whole work, or by uniting with any other canal or

slack water company, both or altogether forming a

continuous navigation from the terminus of the

Chesapeake and Ohio Canal at Cumberland to the

Ohio River.

SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That this act, so far as

the State of Maryland is concerned, shall take effect

from and after the date of its passage, and upon re-
ceiving the assent of the States of West Virginia

and Pennsylvania, the whole and every section and.

part thereof shall be valid, and in full force and

operation.

SEC. 8. And be it enacted, That the General As-

sembly of Maryland hereby reserves to itself the

right to alter, amend or repeal this act at its pleasure.

CHAPTER 425.

AN ACT to add certain sub-sections to article nine-

teen, of the Code of Public Local Laws, entitled

"Somerset County," under sub-title "License,"

and to repeal section one hundred and thirty-

eight of said article, entitled " Somerset County,"

under sub-title " Retailers."

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
