LAWS OF MARYLAND.

 

eighteen hundred and seventy-two, chapter three

 

hundred and fifty-five, entitled an act to authorize

 

the issuing of licenses to Telegraph Companies and

 

to Express or Transportation Companies, not organ-

 

ized under the laws of this State, to transact business

Proviso

therein, be and the same is hereby repealed; pro-

 

vided that said repeal shall not affect or impair any

 

right vested or acquired, or existing at the time of

 

said repeal under said act; nor shall it impair, dis-

 

charge or release any contract, obligation, duty,

 

liability or penalty whatsoever now existing; but

 

that all suits and actions pending, and all prosecu-

 

tions for penalties under said act, including all civil

 

and criminal proceedings whatsoever, shall be prose-

 

cuted and proceeded with to final determination, and

 

judgment entered therein as if said act had not been

 

repealed.

Repealed

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That all acts or parts

 

of acts hereto passed, inconsistent with the provisions

 

of this act, be and the same are hereby repealed.

Amended and

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That paid act be

re-enacted

and the same is hereby amended and re-enacted, and
added to article fifty-six, of the Code of Public Gen-

 

eral Laws, and made to read as follows :

It shall not be

SEC. 4. It shall not be lawful for any telegraph

lawful

company, or for any person, firm, partnership or

 

corporation to do the business of telegraphing for

 

profit or hire in any way within this State, or to re-

 

ceive compensation therefor, or to open any office

for the transaction of such business within this State,

 

without first obtaining a license therefor as herein-

 

after provided.

It shall not be

transportation company, or for any person, firm,

packages of any sort, or of any article of trade or
