toll for traveling on said road; provided, said toll :

Rates of toll
|
shall not exceed the following rates to wit: One
|
 
|
and one-half cent per mile for every vehicle drawn
|
 
|
by one animal ; for any vehicle drawn by two animals
|
 
|
three cents per mile ; stud for every vehicle drawn
|
 
|
by more than two animals, one and one-half cent
|
 
|
per mile for every additional animal ; for every score
|
 
|
of sheep or swine or neat cattle, tive cents per mile;
|
 
|
for every horse and rider, and every lead or driven
|
 
|
horse, one and one-half cent per mile.
|
 
|
SEC. 8. And be it enacted, That every person who,
|
 
|
to avoid the payment of the legal toll, shall turn out
|
 
|
of said road or pass any gate thereon, on grounds
|

adjacent thereto, or wilfully misrepresent the distance
|
 
|
he or she has traveled or intend to travel, the person
|
 
|
so offending shall, for every such offence, pay to the
|
 
|
President and Directors of the said company the sum
|
 
|
of twenty dollars, and the said sum may be sued for
|
 
|
and collected in like manner as similar debts are
|

now sued for and collected; and if any toll-gatherer
|
 
|
shall knowingly demand and receive any greater toll
|
 
|
than he is authorized to receive by this act, he shall
|
 
|
forfeit ten dollars for every such offence, for the use
|
 
|
of the county.
|
 
|
SEC. 9. And be it enacted, That if any person shall
|
 
|
injure or destroy, or obstruct any part of said road
|

ulently pass any gate thereon without first paying

|
toll, he shall be subject to indictment in the Circuit
|
 
|
Court of the county, and upon conviction of such
|

offence shall be punished by fine.

SEC. 10. And be it enacted, That persons using the

SEC. 11. And be it enacted, That the Directors of

and management of said company, as may in their

|
judgment be necessary for the purpose of their in-
|
 
|
corporation, not inconsistent with the provisions of

this charter and the laws and Constitution of this
|
 
|
State ; and the President and Directors of said com-
