CHAPTER 276.

 

AN ACT to repeal the act passed on the twenty-first

 

of January, eighteen hundred and twenty, chapter

 

seventy, and the act passed on the tenth of Feb-

 

ruary, eighteen hundred and twenty-one, chapter

 

one hundred and twenty-eight, and the act passed

 

at the January session, eighteen hundred and

 

seventy, chapter four hundred and sixty-four,

 

relating to Kent Narrows.

 

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of

Repealed.

Maryland, That the act passed on the twenty-first of

 

January, eighteen hundred and twenty, chapter

 

seventy, and the act passed on the tenth of February,

 

eighteen hundred and twenty-one, chapter one hun-

 

dred and twenty-eight, and the act passed at the Janu-

 

ary session, eighteen hundred and seventy, chapter

 

four hundred and sixty-four, relating to Kent Nar-

 

rows be and the same are hereby repealed.

 

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the County Com-

missioners of Queen Anne and Talbot counties, be

and they are hereby directed to levy a tax upon the

 

taxable property of their respective counties, for the

 

purpose of erecting a drawbridge over said Kent

 

Narrows, provided that one-half of the costs of erec-

 

ting said bridge, shall be levied upon the taxable

 

property of Queen Anne county, and one-half upon

 

the taxable property of Talbot county, the amount

 

levied upon each county, not to exceed the sum of

 

two thousand dollars, and provided also that the

 

draw of said bridge, shall not be less than sixty feet

 

in width.

 

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That said bridge shall

be a free bridge, and shall be controlled by the

 

County Commissioners of Queen Anne county, in

 

such manner as to them may seem expedient.

 

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That authority is hereby
given to the Government of the United States, to open
