according to the provisions of the third article, sec-

tion fifty-four of the Constitution of the State of

Maryland, therefore —

Act confirmed.
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
|
 
|
Maryland, That the act passed at January Session,
|
 
|
in the year eighteen hundred and seventy-two, chap-
|
 
|
ter four, entitled "An act to authorize the County
|
 
|
Commissioners for Frederick county to subscribe to
|
 
|
the capital stock of the Liberty and Frederick Turn-
|
 
|
pike Road Company of Frederick county," be and
|
 
|
the same is hereby confirmed and approved.
|

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take
|
 
|
effect from the day of its passage.
|
 
|

CHAPTER 8.
|
 
|
AN ACT to authorize the Mayor and Council of
|
 
|
Hagerstown to borrow the sum of five thousand
|
 
|
dollars to pay a judgment of Nathaniel Leaner,
|
 
|
and a judgment of J. G. Gruber, recovered against
|
 
|
them; to issue bonds for the payment of the
|
 
|
same, and to levy taxes on the assessable property
|
 
|
of Hagerstown to redeem said bonds, and to pay
|
 
|
the interest thereon.

Preamble
|
WHEREAS, The Mayor and Council of Hagerstown
are indebted in the sum of about tive thousand dol-
|
 
|
lars for money recovered against them by Nathaniel
|
 
|
Lehner and J. G. Gruber and desire to borrow a sum
|
 
|
of money sufficient to pay the same, and also to pro-
|
 
|
vide means for collecting by taxation the sum so
proposed to be borrowed and paid, therefore —
|
