Also, the following amendments:
AMENDMENTS PROPOSED.
Section 7. Strike out section 7, and insert the following in
lieu thereof: "That the Governor, by and with the advice
and consent of the Senate, shall appoint an additional Justice
of the Peace for each ward of the City .of Baltimore, that shall
be designated as a ward by the terms of this Act."
Add the following, to be known as section —:
"And be it enacted, That it any person shall give or bestow,
or directly or indirectly offer a promise, any gift or reward
to secure the vote or ballot of any person for or agaiust ex-
tension at the special election provided by this Act, the
person so offending shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and
upon conviction before the Court having jurisdiction where
the offence may have been committed, shall be fined, at the
discretion of the Court, a sum not less than five hundred nor
more than one thousand dollars, and suffer such imprison-
ment as the Court may adjudge, not less than a year, and
such other penalties as are prescribed by the Constitution,
one-half of the fine to go to the informer."
Section 8, line 2, strike out all after the word "constituted"
to the word "Assembly" inclusive.
Section 4, line 2, between the word "to" and the word
"cause," insert "appoint two Commissioners, and the County
Commissioners of Baltimore county shall appoint one Com-
missioner, or a majority of them, upon notice given."
Section 4, line 7, strike out the word "of," and insert the
word "between."
Section 4, line 7, between the word "city" and the word
"to," insert the words "and county."
Section 4, line 15, insert between the word "city" and the
word "among," the following: "And in the office of the
Clerk of the Circuit Court for Baltimore county."
Section 4, line 16, after the word "State," at the end of
said line, add, "and the said Mayor and City Council shall
pay the said Commissioners five dollars per day for the time
they may be engaged in the discharge of their duties, and
shall pay all other expenses that may be incurred in carrying
out the provisions of this Act."
