NIGHT SESSION.

THURSDAY, April 2—8 o'clock, P. M.
The House met.
Present at the call of the roll, the following members:

Messrs. Hines, (Speaker,) Bond, Colton, Henkle, Nutwell,
Turner, of Calvert, Lancaster, Hawkins, Keech, Buchanan,
Merryrman, Turner, of Baltimore county,Banks,Seth,Valliant,
Sudler, Coulbourn, Duer, Johnson, Hodson, Davis, Thomp-
son, Kemp, Merrill, Koons, Nicodemus, Annan, Lee, Riley,
Dawson, Williams, McCosker, T. H. Hamilton, Cooper,
Foster, Stewart, of Baltimore city, McAleese, Loane, Joyce,
Groh, Fenton, Berry, Clark, Wier, Wack, Park, Waters,
Vanderford, Brown, Stewart, of Howard, Leonard, Beds-
worth, Glotlelty—53.

The Secretary of the Senate relumed

The bill entitled an Act to provide for the better protection
of partridges in Washington county,

Endorsed, "Passed by yeas and nays, with proposed amend-
ment:"

AMENDMENT PROPOSED.

Strike out section 2, and insert: "Be it enacted by the Gen-
eral Assembly of Maryland, That any person or persons violat-
ing the preceding section, shall, on conviction thereof, be
adjudged guilty of a misdemeanor, and after presentment
and indictment by a Grand Jury and on conviction, be fined
not less than five dollars, nor more than ten dollars, for each
and every partridge trapped, caught, killed or wounded, and
in default of payment of said fine and the cost of prosecution,
to be imprisoned not less than ten, nor more than thirty
days, one-half of which fine shall be paid to the County
Commissioners of Washington county ,for the use of the pub-
lic schools of said county, and the other half to the informer."

lows :
