Said bill was read a first time.

Mr, Gill, from the Committee on the Judiciary, to whom
had been referred,

The bill entitled an Act to refund to Francis Neale
& Sons, of Baltimore City, for the benefit of John Parsons,
Samuel Cox and others, monies erroneously paid to them
by Inspectors of Tobacco in Baltimore City, for storage and
outage,

Reported favorably thereon.

Said bill was then read a second time and ordered to be
engrossed for a third reading.

Mr. Wier, from a Select Committee, reported unfa-
vorably,

A bill entitled an Act to suppress intemperance, and to
permit the voters of Allegany county, in the State of Mary-
land, to vote on the question of granting licenses to sell in-
toxicating liquors.

The question recurring upon the adoption of the report,

Mr. Park moved that the bill be substituted for the unfa-
orable report of the Committee.

Which was decided in the negative.
The unfavorable report was then adopted.

Mr. Watkins, Chairman of the Committee on Ways and
Means, reported unfavorably upon,

The Senate bill entitled an Act to appropriate a sum of
money to enable the Faculty of Physic of the University of
Maryland, to build a Hospital and to appropriate a sum of
money to the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Balti-
more, and a sum of money to the Hebrew Hospital of Balti-
more.

The question recurring upon concurring in the report,
On motion of Mr. Maclin,

The bill was substituted for the unfavorable report of the
Committee.

Said bill was then read a second time,

Mr. Brace, (the rules being suspended,) submitted the
following order :

Ordered, That the Senate bill entitled an Act to add ad-
